Comic Relief is one of the UK’s best known and loved charities, and they approached us looking to make as much noise as possible on BBC news outlets and wider regional media ahead of Red Nose Day.
Our response comprised four pillars of activity: media moments, school outreach, media partnerships and talent appearances. Media moments involved high profile stars, including Jay McGuiness, Penelope Wilton, Julie Hesmondhalgh and Olympic gymnasts and sisters, Becky and Ellie Downie, visiting projects benefiting from Comic Relief funding. These pillars were topped off with a comedy gig hosted by headline Comic Relief ambassador, John Bishop.
Media partnerships in each region of the UK ensured a constant flow of coverage, while school outreach focused on fundraising efforts, including a BBC Newsround visit with presenter Ricky Boleto and a recreation of “La La Land” by a primary school in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
